So who exactly is Freddy Krueger? There is certainly a lot to say about the famous movie killer, but maybe it would be best to leave the initial introduction to Freddy himself, so here’s a little snippet from my personal favourite movie, Freddy vs. Jason. 😁
You can watch how this particular story ended in the above mentioned movie, but for now let’s dive a bit deeper into the story of Freddy Krueger and his origin. ☺️
From the beginning, Freddy’s life story was as tragic as it was horrifying. His mother, Amanda Krueger, worked as a nurse in an asylum for the criminally insane, until one day she was accidentally locked up inside the building over Christmas with a horde of crazy maniacs, who terrorised and raped her until she was nearly dead. When she was finally found and rescued, she was pregnant with a child.

After Freddy was born, his mother gave him up for adoption and left the asylum to become a nun. Unfortunately, her son did not have a good future in front of him as he was taken in by a violent, alcoholic man who treated Freddy like shit, causing the young boy to develop his own sadistic tendencies, until one day he finally killed his adoptive father and left.
His life from that point is a mystery, until one day he emerged back in Springwood with a wife and a young daughter Katherine. Somewhere around that time, Freddy began with his hobby of slaughtering every other child in Springwood, particularly around his own home on Elm Street. He would take them up to his workplace at an old power plant, where he would torture them and eventually kill them.

Then, one day, his wife found out about his secret and was killed by Freddy. After that, he was eventually caught and taken to court, but was freed on account of a mistake made during his arrest. The enraged parents of Springwood decided to take matters into their own hands and burned Freddy alive at his power plant, thinking that their nightmare was over.
However, at the time of his death, Freddy was approached by three dream demons, who offered to make him immortal and give him the power over people’s dreams. Freddy accepted and the demons became a part of him.

Ever since then, Freddy became the bogeyman of Springwood, seeking revenge against the parents who killed him and their surviving children, but also just generally having fun terrorising and killing anyone he could. For in his dream world, where anything can happen, Freddy has free reign and only rarely has there been anyone with the power to oppose him.
